Is your business at risk?
Smart businesses are protecting themselves by taking security over the goods they supply. They know that to enforce their rights they will do battle with receivers, liquidators and other creditors. It can be a legal minefield where "winner takes all".
If you know how to protect your rights you will frequently get payment where others get nothing. Your position will be recognised by receivers and liquidators. You can often get a quick result and avoid costly legal fees.
Large debtor volumes..............
Many businesses with large debtors ledgers have been put off registration since the project appears to be too large and costly. This may have been a valid decision over the last few years, where NZ has enjoyed a remarkably buoyant economy with low levels of insolvency. All the signs are that the economy is now slowing and that bad debts will increase. It may be time to revisit the decision before you get hit with a large bad debt.
